The majority of Canadians believe that the US-Canada trade agreement will be difficult to achieve within six months.
Most Canadians believe that the possibility of reaching a trade agreement with the United States in the next six months is slim. Prior to this, negotiations were disrupted by U.S. President Trump due to an anti-tariff advertising campaign initiated by Ontario. According to a poll conducted by the Nanos Research Group, about 67% of Canadians said it is "unlikely" to reach an agreement to reduce U.S. tariffs in the next six months, 28% believe it is "possible", and 3% are unsure. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau had previously stated that negotiations were progressing towards reaching an agreement on steel, aluminum, and energy. The survey suggests that Canadians may understand the reasons why Trudeau has not been able to reach an agreement with the unpredictable U.S. president. However, as the trade deadlock continues and economic pressure intensifies, their patience may gradually wear thin.
