Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac common stock continued to fall for the third consecutive day, reaching the lowest level since early August. Fannie Mae's stock price fell by 15% at one point, while Freddie Mac fell by 14%. Since their peak in September, Fannie Mae has dropped by about 44% and Freddie Mac has fallen by about 46%. The director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Bill Pulte, recently stated that the feasibility of introducing "transferable mortgages" is being evaluated. Reports indicate that the fired Fannie Mae regulator had previously been investigating whether Pulte had improperly obtained mortgage records of high-ranking Democratic officials.
