The Baltic Dry Index for dry bulk freight shipping has slightly increased, benefiting from the overall strong freight rates for vessels.
The Baltic Dry Index ended a three-day decline, driven by an increase in freight rates for all types of vessels. The Baltic Dry Index rose by 47 points, or 2.3%, to 2077 points from the previous trading day. The Capesize Index rose by 110 points or 3.6%, to 3133 points, also ending a three-day decline. The daily profit for Capesize vessels increased by $913 to $25,980. The Panamax Index rose by 10 points, or 0.5%, to 1897 points, marking its seventh consecutive day of increase and reaching its highest level since October 28. The daily profit for Panamax vessels increased by $94 to $17,075. The Supramax Index rose by 22 points to 1387 points.
