The Canadian federal government announced on the 12th that it would impose a new round of sanctions on Russia, for the first time including network infrastructure providers on the sanctions list. Canadian Foreign Minister Anand announced in a press release that the sanctions target 13 individuals and 11 entities, aimed at weakening Russia's military capabilities while also targeting its energy revenue and financial support. According to the press release, Canada will impose sanctions on Russian network infrastructure providers for the first time, as well as on several liquefied natural gas companies and 100 vessels known as the "shadow fleet". The press release stated that this action is consistent with recent sanctions announced by the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, in coordination with the G7's continued efforts to apply economic pressure on Russia.
