The jury in the federal court in Chicago, Illinois, USA has ruled that Boeing must compensate the family of one of the victims of the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX crash with over 28 million dollars. This ruling is the first formal decision in dozens of lawsuits following the two 737 MAX crashes (Lion Air in 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines in 2019). According to the agreement reached by both parties on the morning of the ruling, the family of the victim will ultimately receive 35.85 million dollars (including the ruling amount and 26% interest) and Boeing has promised not to appeal. It is reported that on the 5th of this month, Boeing also reached a settlement with the families of three other Ethiopian Airlines crash victims, but the specific terms were not disclosed. (CCTV News)
