Boeing was sentenced to compensate more than 28 million US dollars to the families of the victims of the Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX plane crash.
The jury in the federal court in Chicago, Illinois, USA ruled that Boeing must compensate the family of a victim in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX crash for over 28 million dollars. This ruling is the first formal decision among dozens of lawsuits following two 737 MAX crashes. According to the agreement reached by both parties that morning, the family of the victim will ultimately receive 35.85 million dollars, and Boeing has promised not to appeal. It is reported that on the 5th of this month, Boeing also reached a settlement with the families of three other victims of the Ethiopian Airlines crash, but the specific terms were not disclosed.
