The United Nations Secretary-General calls for strengthening the partnership between the African Union and the United Nations.
On November 12th local time, United Nations Secretary-General Guterres delivered a speech after the 9th African Union-United Nations Annual Conference held in New York, emphasizing that the international community must take decisive action to address the multiple challenges faced by Africa, and calling for further strengthening of the partnership between the United Nations and the African Union. Guterres welcomed the Chairperson of the African Union Commission at a press conference that day and stated that the two sides had "fruitful discussions." He pointed out that "our cooperation between the two organizations has never been closer and never been more necessary." Guterres highlighted three priority areas for action in his speech: prioritizing Africa, promoting development and innovative financing, and investing in peacebuilding.
