World Health Organization: Global progress in the prevention and control of tuberculosis faces challenges.
On the 12th local time, the World Health Organization released the "Global Tuberculosis Report 2025". The report shows that tuberculosis is still one of the most deadly infectious diseases in the world, causing over 1.2 million deaths last year, with around 10.7 million people infected. Data shows that between 2023 and 2024, the global incidence of tuberculosis decreased by nearly 2%, and the number of tuberculosis deaths decreased by 3%. The report points out that although significant progress has been made globally in the diagnosis, treatment, and innovation of tuberculosis, challenges persist in terms of lack of funding and equitable access to healthcare, which could potentially undermine the hard-won gains in global tuberculosis control.
