According to CCTV news, the Trump administration has issued a new directive requiring U.S. embassies and consulates abroad to more strictly evaluate the health and financial capabilities of visa applicants, which may result in foreigners with diabetes, obesity, or insufficient economic conditions finding it more difficult to obtain visas or long-term residency permits. The directive, sent out via internal telegram by the State Department last week, requires visa officers to comprehensively review whether applicants may potentially rely on U.S. public welfare after entering the country. Evaluation criteria include age, health, family status, financial resources, education background, skills, English proficiency, and whether the applicant has ever used public assistance.
