Li Qiang meets with King Felipe VI of Spain.
On the afternoon of November 12th, Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang met with His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, who is visiting China for a state visit, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li Keqiang stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain, the two countries have always respected each other, treated each other as equals, and had a healthy and stable development of bilateral relations, achieving fruitful results in various fields of cooperation. This morning, President Xi Jinping held talks with His Majesty the King to exchange in-depth views on major strategic issues. China is willing to further promote traditional friendship with Spain, firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and continuously improve the well-being of the peoples of both countries.
Li Keqiang pointed out that against the backdrop of weak global economic recovery and sluggish trade and investment, China and Spain can strengthen strategic alignment, fully leverage their economic complementarity advantages, create more highlights and growth points in practical cooperation, and promote common development and prosperity. China is willing to continue to tap into the potential of bilateral trade with Spain, constantly increase the volume and promote structural optimization. China supports more strong Chinese companies to invest in Spain, expand cooperation in the fields of photovoltaics, green hydrogen, power batteries and supply chains, and explore future industry cooperation in artificial intelligence and other areas. It is hoped that Spain will create a fair and predictable market environment for Chinese companies. The two sides can also work together to explore third-party markets, deepen humanistic exchange and cooperation, and further stimulate the vitality of the tourism industry. As supporters and beneficiaries of economic globalization and free trade, China and Spain are willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation to jointly uphold the global economic and trade order and defend international fairness and justice. It is hoped that Spain will continue to play an active role in deepening cooperation between China and Europe.
King Felipe VI stated that since President Xi Jinping's successful state visit to Spain in 2018, the bilateral relations have maintained strong momentum of development. Spain firmly adheres to the One China policy and is willing to continue to be a reliable partner of China. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Spain is willing to closely engage with China at the high level, strengthen strategic alignment, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, technology, green energy, and other fields, and promote people-to-people exchanges in tourism, culture, education, language, etc. Spain highly appreciates the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and is willing to work closely with China in multilateral cooperation, supporting multilateralism and the role of the United Nations. Spain is willing to play an active role in promoting stable development of EU-China relations.
