UBS China's Liao Qihua: Forecast for Chinese electricity demand growth rate raised from 4% to over 8%

At the UBS China Energy Transition Special Sharing Session held on November 12, Liao Qihua, Director of Energy Transition and New Energy Industry Research at UBS Investment Bank Greater China, stated that he is even more bullish on the Chinese electricity market. He predicts that electricity demand will grow by 8%-9% from 2028 to 2030, a significant increase from the previous forecast of 4%. AI data centers, exports, and electrification are identified as structural drivers, and their impact is expected to continue to expand.
