The yield on UK government bonds rose as market expectations of the end of the US government shutdown encouraged investors to buy riskier assets, reducing demand for safer assets such as government bonds. Global stock markets rose as the US Congress neared the end of the long government shutdown. According to Tradeweb data, the yield on 10-year UK government bonds rose by 4 basis points to 4.425%, partially recovering from the sharp decline recorded on Tuesday due to weak UK employment data.
