Google and Turkish Telecom sign agreement to build cloud region in Turkey.
Turkish Telecom stated in a filing with the securities exchange that the company has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Google Cloud. They will provide cloud services in Turkey and jointly build infrastructure for a new Google Cloud region in the country. The new cloud region is expected to be operational between 2028 and 2029, with at least three availability zones and will expand Turkish Telecom's data center portfolio. Turkish Telecom will play two roles: as an infrastructure provider and as a distributor of Google Cloud services. Turkish Telecom stated that this project will strengthen Turkey's position as a hub for regional digital and artificial intelligence innovation, supporting low-latency, high-performance cloud services through local data residency.
