European Central Bank questions proposal for purely offline digital Euro.
The European Central Bank is opposing a proposal put forward by the European Parliament, which aims to only release the planned digital euro in offline form. On November 11th, Alessandro Giovannini, an advisor to the European Central Bank's Digital Euro Council, spoke in support of the initiative by the Brussels-based EU executive body, rather than an alternative proposed by a member of parliament. He told reporters, "We do believe that the European Commission's proposal is reasonable, and the European Commission's proposal envisions launching both online and offline versions simultaneously."
