As the first cold wave of the season hits the eastern half of the United States, natural gas futures prices in the United States remain stable. Ritterbusch stated in a report, "With temperatures below normal levels, the market has entered a volatile consolidation phase with current prices roughly flat compared to a week ago. We remain skeptical of the ability of futures prices to further rise in the near term, as a trend toward warmer temperatures is expected this weekend and next week." Nymex natural gas rose 0.5% to $4.361 per million British thermal units.
