Surprise decline in German investor confidence, impacting the optimistic outlook for the economy to improve
Investors' confidence in the German economy unexpectedly declined, impacting the optimistic mood that the country's economic prospects were finally starting to improve. The ZEW Institute's November expectations index fell from 39.3 the previous month to 38.5. Analysts had expected the index to rise to 41. The current situation index has shown some improvement. ZEW President Achim Wambach stated in a declaration on Tuesday: "The characteristic of the current overall mood is that people's confidence in Germany's ability to solve urgent economic policy issues has decreased. Although investment plans may bring economic stimulus, structural problems still exist."
