According to documents obtained by The Wall Street Journal, the financial conditions of two major artificial intelligence startups in Silicon Valley reveal that they have taken entirely different development strategies in the AI boom, with Anthropic poised to achieve profitability faster than its competitor OpenAI. These documents show that Anthropic is expected to achieve a break-even point for the first time in 2028. The company, with its Claude chatbot's capabilities in programming and other fields, has attracted an increasing number of enterprise users. In contrast, OpenAI predicts that operating losses in 2028 will increase to around $74 billion, equivalent to about three quarters of its revenue, attributed to the sharp increase in computing costs. The developer of ChatGPT also expects that before achieving profitability in 2030, the company will burn money at a rate about 14 times that of Anthropic.
