The State Administration for Market Regulation announces the results of special random inspections on online food sales during the "Double 11" shopping festival.
The State Administration of Market Regulation recently carried out special inspections on online food sales around the "Double 11" online shopping season, with a total of 3347 batches inspected. This special inspection covered 11 main online platforms such as Douyin, Kuaishou, Taobao, and 2288 online live streaming rooms, involving 23 food categories such as convenience foods, alcoholic beverages, and pastries, with intensive promotional activities. Among them, no unqualified samples were found in food categories such as grain processed products and biscuits, but issues were found in some food products such as sweet potato vermicelli being adulterated and counterfeit, and candies, herbal teas, and solid beverages claiming to have weight-loss effects containing laxative ingredients such as senna glycoside A and senna glycoside B. The State Administration of Market Regulation has urged local market regulatory authorities to conduct verification and disposal of the non-compliant food products discovered in the inspections, to strictly control food safety risks, and to strengthen the responsibility for food safety.
