Sony raises its operating profit forecast for fiscal year 2025.
On November 11th, Sony Group released its second quarter performance for the 2025 fiscal year. During this quarter, Sony achieved sales revenue of 3.1079 trillion yen, a 5% year-on-year increase; operating profit of 429 billion yen, a 10% year-on-year increase; net profit reached 311.4 billion yen, a 7% year-on-year increase; and operating profit margin was 13.8%, a 0.7 percentage point increase year-on-year. Overall, Sony Group's business segments performed steadily this quarter. The music business achieved significant growth with strong performance in visual media and platform businesses with works such as "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle"; the Imaging & Sensing business showed strong performance due to increased sales of mobile and digital camera sensors and product structure optimization; and in the Game & Network Services segment, sales of network services and game software increased, resulting in substantial operating profit growth when excluding the impacts of specific asset impairment and development cost adjustments. In the performance report, Sony Group raised its forecast for operating profit for the 2025 fiscal year to 1.43 trillion yen.
