Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Urge the EU to provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises.
According to a report from Bloomberg citing sources on the 10th, the European Commission is considering forcing EU member states to gradually remove equipment from Huawei and ZTE from their telecommunications networks. Regarding the above news, at the regular press conference of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 11th, spokesman Lin Jian responded to the question from foreign media journalists "What is China's comment on this" by stating that Chinese companies have long operated in Europe in accordance with the law and provided high-quality products and services to the European people, as well as making positive contributions to local economic and social development and employment. It is a serious violation of market principles and fair competition rules to forcefully restrict or even prohibit companies from participating in the market through administrative means without legal basis or factual evidence. Lin Jian said that the fact is that forcibly removing high-quality and secure equipment from Chinese telecommunications companies in certain countries has not only impeded their own technological development process, but also resulted in huge economic losses. The securitization and politicization of economic and trade issues will hinder technological progress and economic development, harming others without benefiting oneself. We urge the European Union to provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies and to avoid damaging the confidence of Chinese companies investing in Europe.
