Trump threatens to sue the BBC for $1 billion in damages.
According to Agence France-Presse, on November 10th, President Trump threatened to sue the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for $1 billion after the BBC apologized for editing and splicing his speech. The edited content gave the impression that Trump incited violence during the 2021 attack on the US Capitol building. Trump's lawyers demanded that the BBC completely withdraw the documentary containing the edited content, apologize, and "appropriately compensate" Trump for the harm caused. If the BBC does not comply, "President Trump will have no choice but to exercise his legal and equitable rights... including filing lawsuits and seeking no less than $1 billion in damages." The editing controversy led to the resignation of the BBC's president and news director on the 9th. The BBC stated that they will "carefully read" the letter from Trump's legal team and publicly apologize for the editing behavior.
