According to a report by the Reference News citing the website of Russia Today on November 10th, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of the Russian state nuclear giant Rosatom, stated that the cooperation between Russia and India in the field of nuclear energy is entering a new stage, which may involve higher levels of localization and technology transfer. Likhachev made these comments during a working meeting with the head of the Indian Atomic Energy Agency, Ajit Kumar Mohanty, in Mumbai, as both sides evaluate bilateral projects before the summit between Russian President Putin and Indian Prime Minister Modi next month. Moscow and New Delhi are currently negotiating new projects. Likhachev said, "In addition to traditional areas, we are discussing small nuclear power plants, including land-based and floating nuclear power plants. This is a unique capability of Rosatom." He noted that for the past five years, Russia has been operating a floating nuclear power plant, the Academician Lomonosov, in the Arctic port city of Pevek. Likhachev also mentioned that Rosatom sees great potential for significantly increasing the localization of Russian technologies in India, particularly in the small-scale facilities.
