A team from the Medical University of Vienna in Austria and Imperial College London in the UK has developed a new method that can accurately capture and decode "hidden" nerve signals in the residual limb of upper limb amputees, and convert them into precise movement commands for bionic prostheses. This achievement was published in a recent issue of "Nature Biomedical Engineering," paving the way for the development of the next generation of more intelligent and intuitive bionic prostheses.
