Omdia: Glass revenue reached a historical high of 270 billion yen in the third quarter of 2025.
According to the latest research from Omdia, glass revenue hit a record high of 270 billion yen in the third quarter of 2025, driven by double-digit growth in both price and demand, up 14% year-on-year and 5% quarter-on-quarter. Currently, the trading currency for display glass is predominantly in yen. Omdia points out that the strong revenue performance in the third quarter of 2025 reflects an industry undergoing a significant strategic shift. After experiencing a severe downturn in 2011, glass manufacturers went through almost a decade of intense competition from 2012 to 2022. During this period, several major players competed by lowering prices to win panel orders, resulting in some experiencing losses.
