Trump: If the government resumes operations, I am willing to work with both parties on healthcare issues.

President Trump: I am deeply regretful that the American people are currently being threatened by the Democrats, who have decided to shut down the government in order to force me and other Republicans to continue providing subsidies for the Obamacare. These subsidies are a windfall for health insurance companies, but a disaster for the American people. Since the passage of Obamacare, the stocks of the largest health insurance companies have skyrocketed. Meanwhile, Americans' premiums have doubled or more, going against President Obama's promise. I believe that this money should be used directly for the people, so that they can have better access to healthcare and promote market competition. We must put an end to the behavior that is making health insurance companies extremely wealthy. It is time to lower premiums, not make insurance companies richer. Once the government is back in operation, I am ready to work with both parties to solve this issue.
