Two ships collided in the waters off Weihai, Shandong, causing a fishing boat to sink and 8 people to go missing.

According to the Shandong Maritime Department, on November 9th at around 5 am, the Weihai Maritime Search and Rescue Center received a report that a Shanghai-registered merchant ship had collided with a Liaoning-registered fishing boat about 3.5 nautical miles east of Chengshan Head. The fishing boat sank, but the merchant ship was in normal condition. It was found that the fishing boat involved had a crew of 9 people. The Weihai Maritime Search and Rescue Center immediately coordinated with relevant parties to organize professional rescue ships, rescue helicopters, as well as nearby merchant ships and fishing boats for search and rescue. As of 2 pm on November 9th, one person has been rescued and their vital signs are stable. The search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
