Two major global freight carriers have grounded McDonnell Douglas MD-11 cargo aircraft.

On the 7th, FedEx and UPS announced that they would accept Boeing's recommendation to ground all their McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter aircraft. Prior to this, a UPS MD-11 freighter crashed on the 4th, resulting in the deaths of 14 people. As the world's two largest cargo airlines, FedEx and UPS respectively own 28 and 27 MD-11 freighter aircraft, accounting for 4% and 9% of their total cargo aircraft fleet.
