The joint package service company announced the immediate suspension of its McDonnell Douglas MD-11 fleet, following a crash of one of its cargo planes in Louisville this week, resulting in the deaths of more than ten people. The company stated in a release that the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution" and "based on the advice of the aircraft manufacturer," affecting approximately 9% of UPS Airlines' fleet. UPS stated, "For us, nothing is more important than the safety of our employees and the communities we serve." It added that the company has developed an emergency plan to ensure it can continue to provide services to its customers.
