French Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Commerce, Crafts, Tourism and Purchasing Power, Papin, said in an interview on Friday that he had rejected the possibility of meeting with Shein's Chairman, Don Wei. On Thursday, French customs officials carried out inspections of packages from the Shein brand at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. That morning, Papin and French Minister of Public Action and Accounts, Demonchalan, launched a large-scale customs operation at Charles de Gaulle Airport in front of the media. Demonchalan pointed out, "Today, all packages that have arrived in the past 24 hours have been detained. Customs officers will open 200,000 packages to comply with the three procedures initiated by the Prime Minister." Demonchalan also introduced on the social media platform X on Thursday, "200,000, this is the number of packages that customs officers will inspect in the large-scale operation at Charles de Gaulle Airport in the next few hours, and the operation aims to inspect 100% of the packages from the e-commerce platform Shein." Papin said that the opened packages are "not just from Shein", the operation involves "all platforms."
