The death toll in the crash of the US cargo plane has risen to 14.
According to a report by ABC on the 7th, a cargo plane crash at Louisville International Airport in Kentucky, USA on the 4th has resulted in 14 deaths. The report stated that the victims included 3 people on board and 11 people on the ground, including a confirmed 3-year-old child. In addition, 9 people are missing, and it is believed that they were near the crash site at the time of the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the accident. Investigators revealed that during the takeoff run, a large fire broke out on the left wing of the cargo plane, causing the left engine to detach from the wing, but the aircraft still took off, crossed the airport fence at the end of the runway, and crashed outside the airport. Multiple sources indicate that the cargo plane involved in the accident was a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft produced in 1991, owned by the United Parcel Service, and was originally scheduled to fly to the Hawaiian capital of Honolulu. It crashed shortly after takeoff from Louisville International Airport at around 5:15 PM on the 4th local time.
