The oil and gas battle project in the Dabancheng area of Urumqi City has made breakthrough progress in exploration, with a preliminary evaluation of natural gas geological reserves exceeding 200 billion cubic meters. It has the potential to form a large oil and gas field, marking a new breakthrough in oil and gas exploration in northern Xinjiang. In recent years, Xinjiang has accelerated the exploration of oil and gas in the Dabancheng area, deploying a total of 15 exploration wells in 7 blocks including the northern edge of the Chiawopao Depression, with 11 wells already drilled. The northern edge block of Chiawopao has issued a public bidding announcement, and it is expected that 3 to 4 blocks will be offered in the Dabancheng area, with a submission of 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves. If development is achieved, it can effectively alleviate gas pressure in Urumqi and surrounding areas for at least 20 years.
