Guangxi officially releases group standards for the import of ASEAN fruits rambutan and durian.
On November 7th, Guangxi officially released the group standards for imported durian and mangosteen from ASEAN at the China-ASEAN Fruit Industry Development Conference, establishing a unified market trading "benchmark" for the two popular fruits. The grading standards released this time are specific and intuitive: Grade A durian must have at least 5 compartments of edible flesh, with an edible rate of not less than 35.0%, and limited defect area on the fruit surface; Grade A mangosteen also requires an edible rate of 35.0%, and specifies the proportion of translucent flesh to reduce subjective judgment differences. The standards also introduce indicators such as soluble solids to quantify the flavor and edible value of the fruits, providing an objective basis for "quality and price". In terms of safety, the standards clearly state that all fruits must comply with import inspection and quarantine requirements, and those that do not meet the standards will be eliminated directly. The packaging must clearly label the information in Chinese and English, including product name, grade, origin, etc., to ensure consumers' right to know, and encourage the use of technologies such as QR codes for full traceability. This standard for the first time aligns the grading requirements of ASEAN countries with domestic market demands, transforming traditional experience judgment into data evaluation. It is expected that after implementation, it will effectively regulate all aspects of the imported fruit industry chain, curb substandard products and price chaos, reduce trade costs while safeguarding consumer rights, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of China-ASEAN fruit trade.
