Luci Ellis, Chief Economist of Westpac Bank in the Western Pacific, remains optimistic that the Reserve Bank of Australia will eventually end its wait-and-see stance and cut interest rates again twice. She stated that the Reserve Bank of Australia has the ability to keep the overnight cash rate at its current level while evaluating inflation trends over the next few quarters, without posing too much risk to economic activity. Ellis, who previously served as head of forecasting at the Reserve Bank of Australia, predicts that the Reserve Bank of Australia will cut interest rates again twice, by 25 basis points each time, but not until May and August of next year.
