Wang Yi spoke with British Foreign Secretary Raab on the phone.
On November 6, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone call with British Foreign Secretary Cooper by appointment. Wang Yi stated that the current international situation is complex and volatile, and that China-UK relations must not stagnate. Both sides should strengthen strategic communication and promote the sustainable development of the bilateral relationship along a healthy, mutually beneficial, and stable track. China and the UK are both major powers and permanent members of the UN Security Council, bearing important international responsibilities for world peace, stability, and development. China firmly upholds the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, maintains the leading position of the United Nations in the international system, respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, advocates for peaceful resolution of disputes, supports global free trade and WTO rules, and ensures the stability of global supply chains. China and the UK share a general consensus on the above-mentioned important issues, which is a significant aspect of deepening the strategic cooperative relationship between the two countries. China is willing to work with the UK to jointly tackle global challenges and promote world peace and development.
