The Guangzhou port welcomes the first batch of travelers using facial recognition technology for customs clearance.

Guangzhou General Station of Immigration announced on the 6th that the National Immigration Administration has recently decided to implement 10 innovative measures to support expanding opening up and serving high-quality development. Among them, starting from November 5th, the "face scanning" intelligent customs clearance will be promoted at some navigation ports for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. According to Guangzhou General Station of Immigration, this new measure is based on the implementation of "face scanning" intelligent customs clearance at Shenzhen Bay Port and Gongbei Port in Zhuhai, and will be promoted at 12 open ports such as Pazhou Passenger Port and Nansha Passenger Port in Guangzhou, while also expanding the scope of smart customs clearance to include Taiwan residents holding valid Mainland Travel Permits for Taiwan Residents valid for 5 years.
