North Korea holds a state funeral for Kim Yong-nam.
According to a report from the Korean Central News Agency on the 6th, North Korea held a state funeral in Pyongyang on the 5th for Kim Yong-nam, former Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly. The report said that the national flag was flown at half-mast at the venue of the state funeral, with the military honor guard of the Korean People's Army in formation. Members of the National Funeral Committee, including members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, as well as officials from various central-level bodies, provincial authorities, and military organizations, as well as Kim Yong-nam's family, attended the funeral. The report stated that the farewell ceremony took place at the Patriotic Martyrs' Cemetery in Sinmi-ri. Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, attended the farewell ceremony. Kim Yong-nam passed away on the 3rd at the age of 97.
