China proposed a suggestion in the World Trade Organization to enhance cooperation on carbon standards.
The World Trade Organization Trade and Environment Committee held its final annual meeting in Geneva, Switzerland on the 4th. At the meeting, the Chinese delegation officially submitted a proposal titled "Proposal for Strengthening Collaborative Discussions on Carbon Standards at the WTO," focusing on addressing the fragmented global carbon standard issues and proposing a specific path to promote trade and climate development through systematic cooperation. A total of 25 members and member groups participated in the discussion, including the African, Caribbean, and Pacific Group of States, the Least Developed Countries Group, as well as the United States, the European Union, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, and others. All parties generally recognized the constructive and inclusive nature of the Chinese proposal.
