The UK Office for National Statistics will stop producing a large amount of data, following a crisis that has worsened due to it "doing too much, too quickly, and with too broad a scope" affecting key economic data. ONS official James Benford stated that the agency has been producing unsustainable amounts of data while struggling to get enough households to respond to surveys supporting the most important economic estimates. ONS will announce a proposal next week to "further narrow the scope of statistical outputs", which Bloomberg reported as the first cleanup action on its previously released data.
