"World Openness Index 2024": World openness continues to tighten, Singapore ranks as the world's most open economy.
At the eighth Hongqiao International Economic Forum held on November 5th, the "World Openness Report 2025" was officially released. The report shows that the World Openness Index in 2024 was 0.7545, a decrease of 0.05% compared to the previous year, a decrease of 0.34% compared to 2019, and a decrease of 5.39% compared to 2008, but an increase of 7.08% compared to 1990. In terms of economic openness, the report shows that Singapore ranks first among 129 economies. In the 35 years since 1990, Singapore has been the most open economy in the world for 14 years.
