The first silicon optical pilot line in the northwest region of our country has been officially opened.
On November 4th, the first pilot line for silicon photonics in the northwest region of China, the 8-inch silicon photonics platform, was officially opened. Silicon photonics technology, as the core support of AI computing power, intelligent driving, quantum communication and other frontier fields, is at a critical stage of technological breakthrough and application landing. At the same time, Yang Junhong, the general manager of Shaanxi Optoelectronic Pioneer Institute, officially launched a PDK for passive SOI integrated ultra-low loss silicon nitride products at the meeting. According to Interface News reporters, this PDK is expected to complete the active product line in 2026, including high-performance modulators, detectors and other core devices, accelerating the product iteration process in fields such as artificial intelligence, optical communication, optical computing, intelligent driving, low-altitude flight, and significantly shortening the chip production cycle and research and development costs for optoelectronics and silicon photonics customers.
