Liquor merchants worry that e-commerce disrupts end-of-year market prices, with Maotai's e-commerce subsidy price dropping below 1600 yuan.
As "Double Eleven" approaches, e-commerce platforms are increasing their promotion efforts for Baijiu (Chinese liquor). Today, the after-subsidy price of 53-degree Feitian Maotai on a certain e-commerce platform has dropped below 1600 yuan per bottle, causing concern among liquor merchants who say that e-commerce platforms may "disrupt year-end market prices." On a certain e-commerce platform, the after-subsidy price of 53-degree Feitian Maotai has dropped to 1590 yuan per bottle, with a subsidy of 397 yuan per bottle. Taobao platforms have not followed suit, with prices still at 1640 yuan per bottle. However, the after-subsidy price of a double bottle of 53-degree Feitian Maotai on the above-mentioned e-commerce platform has dropped to 3150 yuan, approximately 1575 yuan per bottle. Prices of other famous liquors have also seen a slight decline since the start of the "Double Eleven" promotion. Independent liquor analyst Xiao Zhuqing said that there is a constant stream of low-priced white spirits online, which is partly due to the weak consumption of white spirits caused by the economic environment and dealers trying to reduce inventory. Additionally, the current situation in China's e-commerce market has created a vicious cycle of all-platform price comparison and low-price competition, with e-commerce platforms even selling Maotai, Wuliangye, and other famous liquors at a loss to attract customers, causing significant harm to the traditional liquor distribution system.
