Involving chestnut cultivation, freshwater pearl farming, six Chinese heritages have been awarded by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
On October 31, at the Global Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage Certification Ceremony hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, China received 6 certifications for its heritage. These are: the traditional chestnut cultivation system in Kuancheng, Hebei; the white ginger planting system in Tongling, Anhui; the ancient bayberry orchard complex breeding system in Xianju, Zhejiang; the ancient pear orchard system in Shichuan, Gaolan, Gansu; the freshwater pearl complex farming system in Deqing, Zhejiang; and the white tea culture system in Fuding, Fujian. Currently, China has a total of 25 important agricultural cultural heritages, ranking first in the world in terms of quantity.
