Today, the journalist learned from State Grid Qinghai Province Power Company that the main project of the largest pumped storage power station in western China, the Wahang Pumped Storage Power Station in Qinghai, officially started construction today. The Wahang Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Guinan County, Hainan Prefecture, Qinghai Province. The preliminary work started in August 2023, with a total investment of 15.94 billion yuan, a total installed capacity of 2.8 million kilowatts, and 8 units with a single machine capacity of 350,000 kilowatts reversible units. The designed annual electricity generation is 3.36 billion kilowatt-hours, with an annual utilization hours of 1200 hours.
