58 cities in China including Quanzhou and Wuxi have joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
On October 31st local time, the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, approved 58 cities including Quanzhou and Wuxi in China to join the Creative Cities Network of the organization. With this, the Creative Cities Network now covers 408 cities in over 100 countries, recognized for their active commitment to the creative industry and cultural life. Azoulay stated that UNESCO Creative Cities demonstrate that culture and the creative industry can effectively drive urban development. With the addition of 58 new cities, we are strengthening this network and harnessing the power of creativity to support local initiatives, attract investment, and increase social cohesion.
