The first International Seismological Committee initiated by our country has been approved for establishment.

Recently, the Earthquake Science Commission initiated by our country was officially established after being reviewed by the executive committee of the International Association of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (IASPEI), becoming the first professional committee established under the initiative of China within the IASPEI framework. The inaugural chairman of the committee is Researcher Li Ying from the China Earthquake Administration. IASPEI is a professional association under the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, dedicated to promoting the research and development of the structure, properties, and processes of the Earth's interior. It is one of the most influential international scientific organizations in the field of earthquake research. The Earthquake Science Commission will establish an interdisciplinary rapid response and scientific investigation platform for large and great earthquakes within the IASPEI framework, which will help deepen the research on earthquake occurrence and disaster mechanisms, promote international cooperation in earthquake disaster reduction, and enhance China's influence and leadership in the international field of earthquake disaster reduction. The proposal to establish the Earthquake Science Commission was put forward by the China Earthquake Administration in 2023, after more than 2 years of negotiation and communication, it was included in the resolution of the IASPEI Congress on September 5th of this year.
