Ministry of Commerce: China's green trade initiative has received positive responses from over 50 economies.
Today, the State Council Information Office held a regular policy briefing to introduce the expansion of green trade. A relevant official from the Ministry of Commerce stated that they will actively participate in the formulation of international rules and standards, uphold an open and cooperative attitude, actively participate in global green governance, and create a good international environment for the development of green trade. The official also mentioned that they will actively participate in discussions on green development at important international events such as the G20, BRICS, APEC, and UNCTAD, and proactively share China's practices and solutions. Li Chenggang, Deputy Minister and Chief Negotiator for International Economic and Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce, stated that their initiative on "Digital Economy and Green Development International Economic and Trade Cooperation Framework" has received positive responses from more than 50 economies and has become a widely welcomed public product. They will continue to promote expansion and implementation, and fulfill their tariff reduction commitments on environmental products within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation product list, with tariffs on listed products already reduced to below 5% as scheduled. Additionally, they have included relevant content on green trade in the Memorandum of Understanding on Deepening Bilateral Trade Facilitation Cooperation signed with countries such as South Africa. The Ministry of Commerce stated that they will continue to enhance the "green content" of high-standard free trade zones, deepen domestic reform to align with international green standards, and promote the green transformation and upgrading of domestic industries.
