On March 13th, WeDoctor and Tencent (00700) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen, integrating the accumulation and application scenarios of Tencent's and WeDoctor's expertise in the field of artificial intelligence. They will jointly promote medical large models, focusing on the management of six diseases (tumors, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, metabolic diseases, reproductive medicine, and geriatric diseases) to develop specialized intelligent products. This collaboration aims to leverage artificial intelligence to support the collaboration of the three tiers of medical care and create a demonstration city for the application of medical artificial intelligence in China. This cooperation is an important step for Tencent to promote the application of artificial intelligence in the healthcare industry and for WeDoctor to implement the "medical large model" in upgrading medical AI application scenarios.
The founders and chairman of WeDoctor Group, Liao Jieyuan, the chairman of CITIC Capital, Tang Liang, the Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent Group and CEO of Cloud and Smart Industry Group, Tang Daosheng, the President of Tencent Health, Wu Wenda, and the Vice President of Tencent Cloud, Gu Wei, witnessed the signing of the agreement. Zhang Jun, President of WeDoctor Holdings, and Zhang Yu, Vice President of Tencent Health, signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties. Yan Jinhong, Senior Vice President of WeDoctor Holdings and President of WeDoctor Cloud Platform, and Zhou Ning, General Manager of Tencent Cloud East China, signed the cloud platform cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties.
2024 is considered the first year of the application of large model scenarios in AI, with the healthcare industry being seen as the first major market for large model applications. Medical large models need to demonstrate cutting-edge capabilities in technology depth, scenario compatibility, and data quality. The difficulty and value of research and training are far higher than in other fields.
Tencent and WeDoctor have deep expertise in AI technology development and medical application scenarios. In recent years, WeDoctor has integrated data intelligence technology with medical service scenarios, achieving large-scale application of artificial intelligence technology in its intelligent hospitals, health communities, and other major medical service scenarios. The platform has accumulated over 400 million dialog data, more than 200 million medical cases, and data from over 20,000 doctors. With the support of data intelligence technology, one intelligent hospital in Tianjin, for example, has achieved revenue on par with that of a large tertiary hospital. This collaboration will strongly promote the integration of large model technology and medical field applications, as well as the organic combination of big data, accelerating the development of new high-quality productivity in healthcare.
AI is one of Tencent's core strategies. As a global leader in cloud computing, data security, artificial intelligence, and other technology products and services, Tencent has massive public cloud computing resources and leading key technologies such as large models and digital humans.
The agreement between the two parties stipulates that WeDoctor's platform and demonstration application scenarios in Tianjin, Sanming, Shanghai, and other locations will be used to carry out comprehensive in-depth cooperation: to build the industry-leading medical large model brand and medical AI digital humans; joint construction of the six diseases management platform and the national data-smart medical center, to create a city with high-standard digital health coverage; joint construction of the healthcare smart brain, medical big data platform, chronic disease and health management service platform; joint construction of a unified data intelligence foundation, establish an intensive operational service system, and provide industry with comprehensive joint solutions for all scenarios.
Academician and Director of Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, Ning Guang, expressed in a video message that the deep application of AI requires the cutting-edge medical technology, large-scale application scenarios, and deep integration of artificial intelligence technology. The objectives and advantages of Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, Tencent, and WeDoctor are highly compatible and can promote the development of domestically leading and globally recognized medical large models, furthering the high-quality development of the industry. Previously, Shanghai Ruijin Hospital and WeDoctor had established in-depth cooperation in cutting-edge medical technology applications, intelligent triage of difficult diseases, and data intelligence-based "six diseases management"; Shanghai Ruijin Hospital and Sanming City in Fujian Province are actively promoting the establishment of a "six diseases management center" supported by data intelligence.
Medical AI technology has brought qualitative improvements in real medical scenarios. The adoption rate of AI-assisted diagnosis by doctors in WeDoctor's intelligent hospital has exceeded 86%, with a daily volume of over 40,000 medical consultations, effectively enhancing patient health indicators and saving medical insurance funds. Yan Jinhong introduced the progress plan of this collaboration, based on large model and digital human technology, focusing on the six diseases, to promote the upgrading of products such as "intelligent doctors," "intelligent health managers," and "health digital humans," substantially enhancing the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of grassroots doctors nationwide, providing users with integrated services for prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management throughout their entire lifecycle. The innovative achievements of the three parties will form standardized capabilities and products for specialized diseases, supporting the implementation of a tightly integrated medical community across the country and the upgrading of data intelligence.
Wu Wenda, President of Tencent Health, pointed out that based on the long-term cooperation between Tencent and WeDoctor, WeDoctor has evolved into a digital health platform that deeply integrates the wide-ranging and in-depth medical scenarios and vigorously promotes the deep application of AI. They have consistently placed serving the health needs of LBX Pharmacy Chain Joint Stock as the primary goal, aligning with Tencent's vision of "technology for good." He believes that the collaboration between the two parties can contribute to enhancing the capabilities of grassroots medical services and deepening medical reform.
