On March 11th, data.ai released the February 2024 ranking of Chinese game developers and app revenue from overseas markets. Dot Inc. successfully topped the list of overseas revenue, followed closely by Mihayo, both achieving impressive revenue of 100 million USD with monthly growth rates of 1.5% and 3.6% respectively. Onefun moved up 3 spots to third place this period, with their 4X battle mobile game Last War, including casual gameplay modes, continuing to generate revenue in South Korea, the United States, and Taiwan, driving a 67% increase in revenue for the publisher.
NetEase's multiple games saw significant growth, helping the publisher climb 3 spots to 10th place: Knives Out launched its 33rd season, collaborating with "Attack on Titan" to introduce popular character costumes like Eren and Mikasa, with monthly user spending exceeding 1.6 million USD in the Japanese market alone; Identity V launched a Lunar New Year themed event, with overseas user spending rising by 21.6%; LifeAfter introduced new content such as the "Hope Radio" storyline and Guardian Dragon Statue gameplay, driving a 101% increase in overseas user spending. Paper Play's new game Love and Deepspace saw overseas revenue growth, with Valentine's Day content updates starting from February 5th, leading to a one-day global spending of 2.5 million USD. The game has become the highest-grossing otome romance game in the world as of 2024, leading Paper Play to rise to 21st place, making it the fastest-growing overseas publisher in the Top 30. Other publishers with significant ranking increases include Topwar Studio, XD Network, Shenzhen Bingchuan Network, and Wanda Cinema Games.
Emerging overseas games in 2024
In early 2024, Chinese publishers continued to introduce new games in overseas markets, with many new games performing well and driving revenue growth. Dot Inc. released the open-world party game Livetopia: Party on iOS and Google Play in January, with around 1.5 million downloads by February. While most of the publisher's revenue comes from their 4X battle game Whiteout Survival, this new game still saw a growth of 265%, with Indonesia as the largest user market. Thanks to the impressive performance of these new games, the publisher's overseas revenue ranking rose to 14th place. XD Network and Wanda Cinema Games also saw growth in China, Taiwan, and Japan markets with the release of Depart Muffin and Saint Seiya: Legends of Justice, respectively, moving up to 17th and 26th place.
