Novo Nordisk (NVO.US) long-acting growth hormone makes its China debut at the CIIE following full approval in China

On November 6, 2026, during the Ninth China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "CIIE"), the Novo Nordisk booth hosted the "Global Heritage, Renewed Upgrade A New Chapter for Novo Nordisk Growth Hormone Unveiling Ceremony" to celebrate its internationally originated long-acting growth hormone Novoease (somapacitan) becoming the long-acting growth hormone with the broadest approved indications in China to date. The event specially invited leading domestic pediatric endocrinology experts, heads of mainstream children's health service institutions, and top representatives of maternal and infant content creators to join Novo in witnessing the year in which Novoease accelerated the landing of innovative achievements in China, while opening a new chapter of serving a broader population of Chinese pediatric patients. Since the Eighth CIIE, Novoease has successively been approved in China for the treatment of pediatric patients with growth retardation due to growth hormone deficiency, idiopathic short stature, small for gestational age, and growth retardation associated with Noonan syndrome. It has now become the long-acting growth hormone with the broadest approved indications in China and has achieved commercial launch nationwide. This progress is one of the concrete expressions of Novo's global innovation accelerating benefits for Chinese patients. In February this year, Novoease was approved in the United States for three non-growth-hormone-deficiency pediatric indications: idiopathic short stature, small for gestational age, and Noonan syndrome, making it the world's first long-acting growth hormone simultaneously approved for these three indications. The efficacy and safety of these indications were validated in its global Phase III clinical study REAL8 and were approved in China in September this year. From the world's first approval to benefiting Chinese children, only about half a year has passed, and the time gap for Chinese children to access the same innovative achievements as children globally is continuously narrowing. About Novoease (Sogroya) Novoease is Novo Nordisk's internationally originated long-acting growth hormone, approved in China for the treatment of pediatric patients aged 2.5 years and older with growth retardation due to insufficient endogenous growth hormone secretion (GHD), idiopathic short stature (ISS), growth retardation associated with Noonan syndrome (NS), and short stature in children born small for gestational age (SGA) who have not caught up in growth by age 2. Results from the global Phase III basket study REAL8 conducted for the three newly added indications showed that at Week 52, with once-weekly treatment with Novoease, the annualized height velocity was 10.2 cm/year for ISS patients, 11.0 cm/year for SGA patients, and 10.4 cm/year for NS patients; its efficacy was non-inferior to the daily formulation, with a safety profile similar to the daily formulation, and AEs were mostly mild to moderate and mostly unrelated to the drug.
