HK Stock Market Move | ASMPT (00522) Falls Over 10% in Early Trading; Company Completes Strategic Review and Decides to Retain SMT Solutions Segment

ASMPT (00522) fell over 10% in early trading. As of press time, it was down 10.66% at HK$100.6, with turnover of HK$279 million. On the news front, ASMPT announced that its board has concluded that retaining the SMT Solutions segment as part of the ASMPT Group is in the best interests of the company and its shareholders. Accordingly, the strategic review of the SMT Solutions segment initiated in January 2026 has been completed. It is worth noting that, benefiting from growing demand for AI servers, networking, optical and power equipment, the group estimates that the SMT target market will achieve a compound annual growth rate of over 20% between 2024 and 2027. The company expects sales revenue of the SMT Solutions segment to double from 2025 levels to approximately US$1.6 billion by 2027, with gross margin rising from the low 30% range to approximately 40%, and segment margin expected to rise to 20%.
